This 1963 Ford Galaxie 500 was delivered to King Ford Sales in Baltimore, Maryland, on May 25, 1963. Ed, the car cleanup guy at the dealership, drove the Galaxie off the transport truck and into the clean-up bay and immediately fell in love. He purchased it that very day, as documented by the original’s owner’s manual.
Ed and his younger brother, Paul, drag raced the car from 1963 until that late 60s, and it campaigned in and around the Baltimore area, including the Cecil County Dragway, as Mr. Ed. At the end of the 60s, Ed decided to “put the car away” and set it in storage, where it sat until 1991, when Paul convinced his brother to sell it to him. Paul drove it only occasionally until 2011, when he underwent a total knee replacement and sold the vehicle. The current owner bought it on March 27, 2014.
The vehicle still has 90% of its original paint, an all-original interior, all-original chrome and brightwork, and its original spare tire. Under the hood, it sports an 8-cylinder, 427 ci engine and a 4-speed transmission. With only 59,500 original miles, this Galaxie is a well documented and highly collectible. Sold with a title.
