MARKETING AND PUBLIC RELATIONS MANAGER

The Owl’s Head Transportation Museum has an immediate opening for a Marketing and Public Relations Manager. This position is responsible for implementation and maintenance of the brand and image for the Owls Head Transportation Museum and the New England Auto Auction™ by creating and maintaining a marketing and public relations presence that promotes increased membership, donations, visitors and partners. Duties include creating, producing and implementing a wide variety of advertising and promotional materials, using social media to promote the Museum’s and Auction’s missions, events and activities, assisting with the design and implementation of printed publications, and participating in the ongoing maintenance and update of the Museum’s website.

Qualifications needed for this position include the following: A Bachelor’s Degree in public relations, new media, marketing, communications or a related field, and two years of professional level experience, or the equivalent in education and related experience; post secondary education in photography, graphic design, or new media is strongly preferred; knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite programs, particularly InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Microsoft Office suite including desktop publishing, along with an extensive working knowledge of photography, is also desired; skilled in creating website content and using all forms of social media, including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram and YouTube.

MUSEUM STORE / ADMISSIONS ASSOCIATE

The Owls Head Transportation Museum is seeking a Museum Store and Admission Associate for our busy admissions counter and on-site retail store. This is a seasonal position, starting as part-time with 24-32 hours per week, including weekends, beginning in May. The position will expand to 40-hours per week in July and August. Duties include providing superior customer service, answering visitor questions, answering the phone, selling store merchandise, managing store inventory, and working with and assisting volunteers. The preferred candidate will have retail and customer-service experience and be comfortable using various computer programs, including POS software and Microsoft Office.
