History Comes Alive

Jul 8 - Jul 9 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Watch as we demonstrate as many pieces from our collection as we can squeeze into one weekend in an attempt to beat our record of more than 75 vehicles demonstrated during this event! Lucky visitors will have the opportunity to learn about collection vehicles, and there will be many opportunities to score rides, too!

We’ve moved this popular event into the heart of our summer season! On Saturday, July 8 and Sunday, July 9, Museum staff and volunteers will demonstrate as many pieces from our ground vehicle and aircraft collections as they can squeeze into one weekend. All pre-1997 vehicles are invited to hit the road and join us on Runway 17 for this special event.

Gates open to the public at 9:00 am; exhibitor gates open at 8:00 am. The show will go on rain or shine, and a variety of indoor demonstrations and activities are planned in the event of inclement weather. All pre-1997 vehicles and all organized automobile clubs are welcome to exhibit. Exhibitors and one guest get in free. Clubs wishing to arrange parking are encouraged to call ahead. In addition to an assortment of classic, vintage and antique vehicles, an array of family activities will include nearly constant demonstrations of vehicles from the Museum’s collection, including the demonstration of a number of lesser-seen, rare pieces. Free Model T rides will be offered throughout the weekend, and (weather permitting) antique aeroplanes will take to the skies. Remember, we fly our planes early, so try to get to the Museum in the morning to see our magnificent antique aircraft in action.

Event admission is $18 for adults. Children under 18, as well as retired and active duty Military, are admitted free. Gates open at 9:00 am. For more information about the event call the Museum at 594-4418 or visit our website at owlshead.org. The Museum is located at 117 Museum Street, in Owls Head, Maine, just two miles south of Rockland on Rte. 73.
