Islandport Press is delighted to announce the publication party for WAYFARER: A Memoir, by James S. Rockefeller Jr. Members of the public are welcome to join the author and his family and the staff at Owls Head Transportation Museum to celebrate with beverages and light snacks. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and the author will be available to sign.
James S.Rockefeller, Jr., author of Man on His Island, is a cofounder of the Owls Head Transportation Museum in Owls Head, Maine, and served as its chairman until 2017. Rockefeller built boats for twenty years at the Bald Mountain Boat Works, where he also restored a 1912 Etrich Taube replica airplane. Rockefeller, who was born in 1926, stopped flying at the age of ninety, after clocking more than 2,000 hours in the air. He has two children, Liv and Ola, with his former wife, the late Liv Heyerdahl. He married Marilyn Moss in 1983.
