LANG EDUCATION CENTERThe Lang Education Center (LEC) preserves the history of transportation by collecting books, artifacts, and other materials as well as creating public programming for all ages. The Lang Library is a research library containing more than 8,000 book volumes and 3,000 periodicals, paintings, prints and ephemera, 10,000 photographs and negatives, a film and video library and living history recordings and manuscripts.
HISTORYIn 1997, OHTM co-founder Steven Lang’s family donated more than 5,000 books, photographs, art and ephemera to create the Lang Education Center & Library. The donation was made in memory of Steve's Robert, who was a life-long collector and a friend of the museum. Robert Lang’s love for transportation history and the Lang family’s generous donation helped make OHTM an important repository of transportation-related books, articles and ephemera. The Lang Education Center & Library's collection has since grown significantly thanks to the generosity of other donors.
